Gods Attributes and Our Attitudes.

Even the greatest of individuals have bad days! David was one of them. He comes home to find that His entire people had been taken captive and His town had been plundered. His army blamed Him and were ready to kill him. Needless to say, He was weary, and any strength he had was being sapped by the devastation he faced and by the destruction that was surrounding Him. But David knew what to do in the midst of His despair and in the midst of this desperate circumstance. The Bible says in 1 Samuel 30:6 that “…David strengthened himself in the Lord.” As he did this a transaction occurrred in Davids spirit. Where there was loss, fear & anger there suddenly came supernatural trust, hope & courage.

The way he may have done this is by reminding Himself of who the Lord was to him and that he wasn’t alone in whatever he was facing in that moment. He may have also reminded himself of all the other times the Lord had been his provision, his healer, his refuge and so much more. Perhaps he knew that nothing was to hard for God and believed that if God did it before in his life or anothers life, he could do it again! The bible then says that David pursued his enemy with the assurance that he would succeed in rescuing what was stolen from him. I believe that we are called to be like David and strengthen ourselves in God. When we do this we will not be able to look upon our circumstances with a defeated attitude but rather a victorious one! I believe we will feel mentally, physcially and spiritually envigorated to continue to believe again for our breakthrough and miracle and if it’s anything like Davids story you may get back more than what you began with when restoration comes!

May you find the space to remind yourself of who exactly God is to you and take a moment to see that you are actually on the winning side no matter what you have been facing.
Below is a list of the many things that God can be for you, verbalise it if you have to or meditate on it! In our darkest times we have reminded ourselves of who God is and we have seen Him prove Himself to be true time and time again (ref: prayertoday.org)
